EYFS
Statement of Intent for the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
In our Early Years Foundation Stage, we provide the ideal start for a child to develop their confidence as a playful, motivated and independent learner, within a safe and caring, yet exciting and enriching setting.
From the very beginning of the induction phase, our Early Years children become important members of our Birchfields family and community. Their happiness and wellbeing is at the core of all we do.
Our experienced staff understand the importance of this new experience of school life and our open door policy allows our families to feel reassured during this new time.
Our children are constantly encouraged to freely enjoy both our indoor and outdoor learning environments, accessing stimulating resources and developing their natural impulse to explore through play. We aim to build independence and confidence in our learners.
We want our children to find their voice. So communication and language is at the heart of everything we do. We provide purposeful opportunities for our children to discuss and articulate their learning and experiences, whilst building a rich bank of new vocabulary.
In Reception our children take part in many whole school events and activities, this makes their transition into Year One a positive and exciting one.
Our Early Years children leave our EYFS with a full heart and good knowledge of our Birchfields core values, they will have an excellent foundation of skills to continue to build upon in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
