Parent Support

Hello, bonjour, ciao, hola, cześć, السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ, नमस्ते and ਸਤਿ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ !

A lot of you will already know me - if not, my name is Mrs Rashid and I am your Parent Support at Birchfields Primary. I have had the privilege of working at Birchfields for over 21 years. I have worked in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 so I know, and understand, the needs of our children and school community well.

My role is to offer support to our Parents and Carers with their child's learning and understanding. I am here to offer you advice and strategies to help make life easier for you to understand and engage with your child in their learning and general school life.

If you are struggling with the current pressures of Cost of Living, I am also able to provide support, organise emergency food parcels or signpost you to local food banks and other support networks.

One of my aims is to help parents and carers to develop their English speaking skills, so I work closely with the tutors from the University of Manchester to arrange the English Speak Up class that is held weekly in school.

Coffee mornings are held every Friday morning in the library. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet other Parents and Carers and make new friends. Please keep an eye on the school app for details of the theme of the coffee morning each week. These can range from E-safety to behaviour strategies to apply at home, art to well-being sessions to benefit you - including art, badminton, zumba and music!

You can find me in the school library. I am available daily by appointment or drop in sessions at the end of the school day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

I am also proud to be a Young Carers’ Champion and endeavour to identify as well as support the children who are Young Carers at Birchfields. Please click her for our Young Carers page for further information.

Dare to Be Different

We also have our Dare to Be Different group which is a support group set up by parents to provide support and advice to Parents and Carers of children with SEND and hold regular coffee mornings. Please click on the links below for further details.
