Headteacher's Message

Welcome to Birchfields

Aiming High Together

Welcome to Birchfields, where I have been proud to be Headteacher since January 2007. At Birchfields,

EQUALITY, RESPECT, RESILIENCE, HONESTY, GOOD HEALTH and KINDNESS are at the core of everything

we do. We are an inclusive school where all are treated equally and given equality of opportunity

regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity,

race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

We treat our children as individuals and teaching and learning is differentiated to take account of

individual needs. Teaching and learning is also matched to the appropriate  stage of children's physical,

mental, social, spiritual, moral and cultural development needs. Everyone benefits from a diverse, inclusive,

rich, broad, balanced curriculum that is presented in an interesting, exciting and imaginative manner with

lots of opportunities for first-hand experience, practical work, investigation and learning through play.

The curriculum is enlivened and enriched by visits, visitors, and extensive use of the environment. The basics

are taught well and the creative aspects including art, poetry, story, dance, music, performance and

physical development are also central to our work.

We AIM HIGH TOGETHER and set high standards for ourselves and others. All are treated fairly and are listened

to. Everyone has an opportunity to take responsibility, build their self-esteem and develop their self- confidence.

Success is promoted and progress and achievement is celebrated. Parents & Carers and the wider community are

seen as equal partners with the school.

Birchfields is a welcoming, friendly, bright and lively, happy place where children feel they belong, where impeccable

behaviour is expected and where they enjoy growing up in a secure and loving environment.
